Chef Service at Belmont House

This season at Belmont House we are delighted to be able to offer a chef service from SCJ Catering who provide the catering at Saxa Vord. The chef comes along to the house for parties of over 6 people. This service is ideal for those of you who are spending time at Belmont house for a special occasion. Although Belmont house is well equipped it does give those of you the chance to all have a night off from cooking. The chef will come along to cook the meal, which you pre-order from a set menu. Steve the owner of the company makes every effort to source local food and if you have a special request he would be happy to discuss this with you. At the Watercolour Weekend which recently went ahead at Belmont here was the menu that was offered to guests to choose from for both evenings.


Starters

Pan fried Shetland black mushrooms with blue cheese on toasted herb bread

Pan fried Cajun salmon with a burnt black butter and watercress salad garnish

Chef"s homemade soup of the day with warm herb bread

Breaded cod fishcake with a Thai sweet chilli dressing and with fresh crisp leaf salad

Duo of haggis and black pudding with spiced tomato chutney

Oven baked camembert topped with green pesto oil and served with warm bread

Haggis rolled in pinhead oatmeal and dressed with a whiskey cream and a salad garnish

Leek and haddock risotto balls with a tarragon and white wine cream to finish

Shredded duck with a Shetland reel gin and cherry compote tossed in a pepper salad

Home Smoked seafood cocktail in a Shetland reel gin and tomato and tarragon sauce

Main course

Pan fried sirloin steak

with portabella mushroom grilled whole tomato sautéed potatoes whiskey and peppercorn sauce

Highland chicken stuffed with haggis,

Herb crushed potato cake, roasted root vegetables, highland cream sauce

Leek and wild mushroom risotto

Served with warm herb bread

Pan fried pork

Glazed with honey and mustard nestling on chive mash with roasted carrots and butternut squash

Pan seared Scottish salmon

With a lemon herb crust, lemon butter sauce baby new potatoes and a crisp fresh salad garnish

Rosemary garlic studded lamb steak

Baby roasted potatoes roasted root vegetables" mint jus

Pan fried peppered duck

With a Shetland reel gin and cherry compote Sautee potatoes and rocket salad

Desserts

Lemon tart with fresh lemon cream

Fruit bread and butter pudding with fresh pouring cream

Poached pears in red wine and mulled spices fresh mint

Warm chocolate brownie with Orkney ice cream

Mixed various ice cream

Local cheese board and chutney


As well as the Chef coming along a waiter or waitress will be provided so that you will be served at the table. This also ensures that as much as possible is tidied away before they leave. The menu above is £25 per head for a three course meal. This service has already been used several times at Belmont House and we have had excellent reviews regarding the “amazing” food offered.
