An exclusive opportunity to visit Unst, the most northerly island in the UK and the home of Shetlands lace knitting, and enjoy expert tuition while staying in the immaculately restored Belmont House.
The two night break includes expert lace knitting tuition from Hazel Laurenson, private viewing of the Unst Heritage Centre lace collection, all transportation to and from Lerwick and between Belmont House and the Unst Heritage Centre, a guided tour of the island, a private performance from talented local musicians, and a special ‘Taste of Unst’ menu for both dinners, and is fully catered.

Workshop – fine lace knit tuition. The participant will knit a sampler or scarf. The course contains elements of design and finishing. Knitters can see the Heritage Centres displays of fine lace. For the experienced knitter, a sampler can be finished during the workshop, but the scarf you will take home to finish. Full instructions will be available to take home to complete. The lace class is suitable for the advanced knitter.
Price includes: Sunday transport from Lerwick to Unst, transfers between Belmont House and Unst
Heritage Centre and a three-hour guided tour of the island, 2 nights accommodation in historic Belmont House on a shared basis (exclusive use of a room is available for 2 people), 2 dinners, 1 lunch, 2 help yourself breakfasts, and five hours of lace knit tuition with the island’s most revered lace knitter, Hazel Laurenson. Return transport to Lerwick on Tuesday morning, arriving in Lerwick midday.
